NEED HELP

I realize that it has been a long time since i have let out a single word here on blog spot, but its not like anyone really bothers. Lamenting the fate of my words i can only equate it with sending messages into a huge void unaware whatsoever of the fate of these messages. Final year of college, aah what a time. its full of a huge lot of work and at the same time a lot of free time also comes your way.At the end(well not the complete end) i realize that can be only explained with a lot of oxymoron excesses. Anyway my biggest concern at the moment is the treatment of HIV 1and HIV 2 treatment. As it is my biggest concern its only befitting that i get testes too( for which i will be receiving the results today). Anyone reading this who has a certain amount of knowledge of HAART or anything regarding the inhibitors of protease and reverse tanscriptase may please comment. Your help will be highly appreciated. On my part i would try to search up on a particular drug at a time and write a short introdction about it, uses and side effects. HELP REQUESTED..

QUITE THE TRIP

In my experience I find that I fall into the most bizarre of situations when planned to avoid any such discomfiture. One of such incidents happened when we were on a vacation in Sikkim. Here we means my mother cousin and of course me. As we all know that a tour of Sikkim is incomplete without visiting the Tsomgo Lake. To do that we had to have a vehicle which were on hire at the state transport corp. there. In order to be comfortable we decided that its best we hire out the whole sumo which is meant for 10 people to accommodate 4 instead (including the driver). I guess that had the god of sustainable use of natural resources hot on our trail.
The reason to get to the lake for was the snow. The lake wasn’t going to be frozen over at that time of the year but the hills and mountains around will probably be snow-capped Ours was one of the first cars to leave for the lake that day. Here I feel I should share a piece of info: we were staying at the deorali lodge in Sikkim and if you ask them nicely they would help arrange for the car before hand so you don’t have to haggle your morning away with the taxi guys and their brokers. Back to the trip, it hadn’t even begun that our car had to get its brake fixed. It sounds really bad for the terrain we were about to embark on but believe it or not I was oohing and aahing my lungs out didn’t realize much about it. So this must have infused my mother and my cousin with a misguided sort of optimism
Believe me from the petrol pump the road just got better and better (in terms of aesthetic appeal). I think the drivers of that route probably have on of the best jobs in the country (well minus the stiff back and tedious hour lousy pays and the list goes on...). Just tell me how many people can say that they drive past the Himalayan shadows for work everyday. The road was one of the most beautiful I had been on. Once you can see the Himalayas peeking close you know that it was worth getting up this morning.
Alas! This didn’t last much long the car had a break failure and we were stranded on that beautiful stretch with nothing much. But the view remained great as always. As ours was on of the first few cars to leave that morning we couldn’t get any cars to beg to take us back and the inflow of cars till the lake was quite inconsistent that day. There was the disaster stranded there for hours calling the hotel guy, other taxi guys or who ever we could begging the cars passing by to take us with them but some were full and couldn’t help it and some just drove on.
It was little over two hours that we finally found a car. There we were again crammed into the back of a car with the bends of the road threatening to throw me off throw that giant window at the back. But the truth be told all the three of us were having a great time. We were talking laughing out hearts out and enjoying. So when were at the lake the stiff neck from being thrown around in the car and all the other woes were forgotten. We ran up the hill (with the exception of my mother) slipped on the snow (I ate some) threw snow ball slid on it played got tired and came back. I did abstain from riding the yak on the basis of PETAish ideas, visited the markets down. And returned the same way. Really all us have those people to thank for the life.
So here it is THANKS FOR THE LIFT, BECAUSE OF YOU HAD A GREAT TRIP.

SOME IDEAS OF SOME PEOPLE

if you have ever been addicted to online farming this post might interest you. Its been about two years since last tried my hand at farmville on facebook. I still recall the time when farmville was the next big thing in my circle of friends. After chemistry class we would discuss if someone's squash crops withered (you could have then unwithered too!!)or was the Haiti relief aid crops more profitable.

Those were the days of vampire fiction and online crops. I mean, its hard not to get addicted to such farming where you don't need rains, crops mature after three days, trees are always with fruit. In short its the easiest and more gratifying to be a farmer this way. Quite shameful though that in contrast to this our own farmers are languishing in the dark and committing mass suicides.

However, I do not have any intention to get serious on this post. Put your hands up if you were on the farmville band wagon once or even if you were hot for vampires. From where I stand its ok and downright necessary to have a little slice of escapism or to be high on gullibility. As long as you know the limits you are always safe. Plus couldn't play farmville for long this time, guess it takes time to adjust with fantasy after a break.

RAIN ON ME

Its the 2nd of January 2011 and the first rain of the year today.I find rainy mornings especially beautiful although i can't say much about this one today (woke up at 9:00 a.m so missed the morning), but whatever remained for my eyes looked wonderful. Rains have different meaning for different people ranging from a way of regeneration till mass destruction. For me rains feature in my one of my favorite escapist fantasies: nestling a hot cup of tea in my hands while watching the drops tricking past. Since its a new year and i am high on optimism (way worse that crystal meth or LSD)I decided to click away.

I have come to observe that people who have grown up on flood plains have a bitter sweet relationship with rain (A NO BRAINIER). For us its the rains that nourish and rains again that destroy. Coming to think of it, rains are like mother nature's version of a seductress with an ulterior motive. Rain may make you smile but if it gets too close it will make you shed tears of blood.

Despite the doom and gloom rains are lovely.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and push hard till 2013

And there goes another one paving a path to welcome all that is new and fresh and untouched yet. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE. Congratulations we have all officially survived 2011.Though we must know that 2011 hasn't been a kind year to all of us. we lost our beloved Jagjit Singh, Dr. Bhupen hazarika, Mamoni Raisom Goswami and Dev Anand. We also managed a loss of Osama and Gaddafi as well. Although I am not sure how sad I might be about that. We lost two great musicians this year so the now directionless music fan has a new favourite_- WHY THIS KOLAVERI DI?(and there is an assamese version so go figure). I do not mean to come off as a hater but it would do me a world of good if some body could explain to me what a SOUP BOY is. May the departed rest in peace, although if they know of this i don't know how those souls are going to manage this feat.

As we step into this new year, lots have a spectrum of new year resolutions like:slimming down, fattening up, abstaining from cigarettes, traveling more, traveling less, learning to cook(master chef dreams), learning to dance or to paint or click and what not. Well these stunts are not for me. lets face it I am of a weak heart and with commitment issues so nothing long term is ever a success story with me. Rather I have promised my self an attitude adjustment. Its my take take on being positive and open to life. Last year taught me that if something is hell bent on going wrong it will go wrong despite my best efforts (now i do not mean don't fight for your way), I might as well ejoy the train wreck.

So the final word is, its not important neither is it possible to be in control of everything at all times but it matters more to be at your best or rather live your best when control and caution take a hike. LIVE AND SURVIVE.

FINGER TO THE DEMOGRACY..(in a legitimate way)

The first phase of assembly elections in Assam begins today for 62 out of 126 constituencies and I am proud to announce that today I had the opportunity to vote or put it in other words exercised my right to vote today for the first time. Now that i can see the mark on my finger, I can't help thinking of this incident as a significant rite of passage and a lesson in humility and a bit of megalomania. I know the combination of the two seems like opposite ends of the spectrum but thats just how it was. The time stipulated for casting our votes today was from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Being the lazy citizen that I am, i slept till 8:45 am. And I am the future of this great country, so god help us. Apart from that I reached the polling booth at about 9:00 am with my father. Our polling booth was the Jorhat Law college Campus, befitting of the occasion was the location in a sense. There I was standing at the voting Centre Number 27 waiting eagerly to get my shot at writing the destiny of our country, and forming a favoured government with all my fellow Jorhatians. I know it sounds a lot more grand than what it was. So I was basically waiting alone in the line to cast my vote underneath a surprisingly blazing sun (it had been pouring for a few days). I was alone because my father dropped me off at the polling booth and went back home to get my mother (two trips because he was using the bike). To me in those moments of absolutely awkward solitude the blazing sun shining down at us seemed like a sign from the high heavens that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Finally both my parents arrived and it turned out the I was supposed to cast my vote at the number 21 voting centre not 27. What else out from this line and into the other. Thankfully both were in the Law college premises. Finally I did see the light at the end of my tunnel(the line), in my case which was getting inside the voting centre, getting the ink on my finger, pressing that blue button of the EVM and hearing that long beep. The moment wasn't grandiose at all, I kept fumbling the whole time through my pocket to get my Identity proof out, the ink went in my nail crevices and it looks quite dirty now and i almost ran out after the beep as the beep happened to be really long one and I thought I broke the machine. Only outside did I realise what I had done, more correctly what I had participated in. I had just taken part in feeding the machinery of the World's largest democracy. Many people regard the condition of this country as an unlivable slum, but today I know that i am not alone in this mess, there are just so many with me... that the key to opening this "chicken coop" ( the term chicken coop is adopted from the novel The White Tiger authored by Arvind Adiga) lies within ourselves. And how lightly do we take this right to vote right now seems like a crime to me, we have the right we have the means, its about time the absolute power rests where it belongs, with us the people.

If any Indian citizen reads this blog then please don't throw your rights away. 67% votes were cast in the first phase of the assembly elections in Assam. So people with children, if you may or can, take them out with you to see what an election or voting is all about . As a child I remember accompanying my parents to the polling booths and after they had cast their votes it was almost ritualistically that I would hop on my father's bike and both of us would go around to see what all was happening at other centres, and till this day the ritual is intact. Let the future of the country understand what it takes to remain as the world's largest democracy. On a patriotic note this time, JAI HIND

Bleeding Blue And Loving It

After six weeks of cricket mania the whole carnival is comming to an end with the two sub-continental favourites India and Srilanka pitted against each other in the final. the two teams will be in an epic battle tomorrow in search of the ultimate cricketing glory, to win the holy grail- The World Cup. Please don't let my flair for dramatics scare you off. Its just that as we all know India hadn't had the strongest intial campaign comming into this world cup. The team defeated Bangladesh no doubt but only to pull up a draw against England, clawing their way out of trouble against Ireland and a loss against South Africa. Although the Men in Blue had to go through a period of serious blues they made and they made it to the final in style. They ousted Australia the team to have won the past three WC titles in 1999, 2003 and 2007. In the semis India took on arch rival Pakistan- a team to have suffered no loss till that point in the tournament only bring an end to their WC campaign. This match had had us fans screaming on top of our lugs and praying at the stretch of out faiths. But the God of Cricket blessed this team and here we are in the finals.

The next match is has a lot lying on the line for both the teams. For one India is playing on home ground and has the pleasure as well as the pressure to perform in front of us citizen. And Srilanka too as they are playing in a cricket crazy country which has its own team playing in the final. Sachin Tendulkar would be looking towards his 100th ODI 100 and the only piece of silverware missing from this repertoire- The WORLD CUP. And from the visitors bench we have Muttiah Muralidharan the bowler supremo. He has come overlooking an injury to play this match. He would end his International career after the world cup final. The gist is out the best bowler in all history to take on the Little Master tomorrow at the Wankhade Stadium Mumbai. All I have to say is that better be worth the popcorn. And speaking of worth, the ICC has had a heavy tax exemption of 43 cr rupees while making huge amounts of profit. However the ban on media placed by the ICC has been called off. Now since the tax payer has had to shell out 43 cr rupees for this world cup, TEAM INDIA had better bring us the WORLD CUP. Let the game begin.
